Caramel Custard

Create this classic dish at home. Needs no eggs, no baking and no gelatin or agar agar! 

Serves: 2


















Ingredients:

Sugar - 8 tbsp
Milk - 300 ml
Custard powder- 3 tbsp (Vanilla flavor)
Vanilla Essence - 1/4 tsp

Method:

1. For the caramel sauce, caramelize 4 tbsp sugar with 6 tbsp water.Boil on low flame for 10 mins till sugar turns golden brown. Do not over boil and do not stir while it boils.
2. Cool completely. Keep aside. It should have a flowing consistency.
3. Mix Custard powder with 20 ml cold milk.
4. Boil remaining milk and sugar. Add the custard powder-milk mixture to this and cook for 5 or 10 mins till it is thick. It should stick to the back of a spoon.
5. Add vanilla essence
6. Take 4 or 5 moulds. Pour the caramel sauce to cover the base. Add the custard mixture on top.
7. Cool and refrigerate for 2 hours. 
8. Serve cold.
